Our Soup Kitchen has many fun and meaningful volunteer opportunities!

We always need your help!

“Volunteers don’t necessarily have the time, they have the heart”

Come help us serve the most nutritious meals to our community! Our guests are served breakfast, lunch and a to go sandwich Monday – Saturday. Help us prep food, make sandwiches, serve food, wash dishes and make someone’s day! (it will probably end up being YOURS!)

Shifts are breakfast 8am-11am. Lunch 11am-2pm, or join us for the day, 8am-2pm. After you enroll, you can go to our calendar and pick your days and times. Come once or join us often!

Wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. Hairnets are provided or wear your own cap. Short hair and long hair pulled back is fine. We provide you with aprons and food handling gloves. You are also welcome to enjoy a meal here.

Please fill out a volunteer application, and we will respond to you promptly.!

More than 800 Families Every Month!

That’s how many families in our community need and get free groceries from our Amazing Grace food pantry.

It takes as many as 25 volunteers each day to manage deliveries, stock shelves, assist shoppers and register new guests.  We also connect our food pantry guests  to additional resources to get even more help if they need it.

Please call Kathleen Kelly, Program Manager to find out available times and current volunteer opportunities at 860-347-3222, ext. 200.

Special Events!

Throughout the year, there are special events that we need volunteers like you to help us with.  Some Examples:

  • Open Your Heart celebration and dinner in February

  • Walk-in-the-Park in August

  • Christmas Dinner for the homeless or people living in poverty

  • Thanksgiving Turkey Drive

  • Folding & Stuffing Envelopes 3 times per year

  • Amazing Challenge Soup Supper in October

Special notice:  The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to severely limit volunteer opportunities.  We need to be careful to protect volunteers, our guests and our staff from being exposed to or transmitting a life-threatening disease.  If you are interested in volunteering in an environment with strict safety protocols, reach out to any of our program managers named on this page.  You will receive a call back and we can discuss current opportunities.
