July 14th, 2020 – Root Center for Advanced Recovery Donates $8000 to SVDM
Last December, the Root Center for Advanced Recovery opened its doors in a medical office suite at 420 Saybrook Rd., in Middletown. Currently, they serve about 125 individuals each day – that’s 125 residents of Middletown! The Root Center provides a continuum of behavioral healthcare services to help individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Counselors work with each patient to develop an individualized recovery plan which is based on the unique strengths, needs, abilities and preferences of each person served. They are currently looking to expand services they offer to our community.
At St. Vincent de Paul Middletown (SVDM), we see people every day who struggle with addiction. In the current pandemic, many of those individuals come to us for daily meals, for weekly groceries or for other support. It seems like a natural extension of our work to partner with the Root Center to provide this community with the best possible options for those suffering with addiction.
We were honored to accept a check for $8000 from the Root Center, designated to support our efforts to feed the community during these tough times. Presenting the check to Ms. Maryellen Shuckerow (center), Executive Director of SVDM were Bruce Simons, Board President, Root Center for Advanced Recovery (left) and Steven Zuckerman, President and CEO, Root Center for Advanced Recovery (right).
